“‘Roots rock’ was a label I fought when I was younger,” says BoDeans founder and frontman Kurt Neumann. But Neumann’s view changed by viewing roots as a blend of blues, rock, country and soul. He even sold his beloved truck to help finance the band’s sessions at L.A.’s Village Recorder.
