Breaking News: Austin Record Convention changes to annual show

America’s largest record show will be held only once per year.

There are several reasons for reducing the frequency of the Austin Record Convention’s schedule from every six months to every year, said promoter Doug Hanners. The show has been held in Austin, Texas, since 1981.

“The main one is business; one show a year gives buyers and sellers more time to gather up worthwhile merchandise and plan ahead,” Hanners said. “As we saw with our solo event in 2007, one show brings many more dealers and buyers to the show, making it a much more profitable occasion for all concerned.”

Hanners said other reasons also were factors.

“Planning and booking two shows a year makes doing other things difficult, plus some medical issues we have all add up to make one show a year the logical choice for now,” Hanners said. “It’s possible we could go back to two shows in the future, but for the time being, it will be one.”

The next Austin show is Oct. 3-5, 2008. For more information, visit   www.austinrecords.com. It is the largest record show in the U.S. and has been held in Austin since 1981.
