Singer, songwriter, guitarist and noted record producer Jeff Lynne will get a star on the prestigious Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2014.
The ELO frontman (and founder), who also has enjoyed a career as a solo artist and with the Traveling Wilburys, is one of seven honorees selected for the 2014 recording category. The Walk of Fame also honors entertainment icons from film, TV and radio.
“I’m thrilled to be recognized by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and feel honored to be in the great company of some of my biggest heroes,” Lynne says. “Growing up in Birmingham, England, I never imagined my name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame–it really is fantastic.”
In 2013, ELO — which has sold more than 50 million albums — marked 40 years of music with the release of “Electric Light Orchestra Live” and “Zoom.” Lynne also released the solo album “Armchair Theater;” he plans to release an album of all-new material in 2014.
Beyond ELO, Lynne has produced and collaborating with artists including Roy Orbison, Del Shannon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Tom Petty and Joe Walsh. He teamed up with Harrison, Orbison, Petty and Bob Dylan for the supergroup The Traveling Wilburys.
