Rush, Marvelettes, Deep Purple among 2013 Rock Hall nominees

By Susan Sliwicki

Fan favorites Rush are among the nominees for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2013.

The other acts — several of whom have been nominated before — that round out the ballot are: The Paul Butterfield Blues Band; Chic; Deep Purple; Heart; Joan Jett and the Blackhearts; Albert King; Kraftwerk; The Marvelettes; The Meters; Randy Newman; N.W.A; Procol Harum; Public Enemy; and Donna Summer.

From today, Oct. 4, 2012, through Dec. 5, 2012, fans can cast official votes online for the five acts they feel are most deserving of induction. Host voting sites are rockhall.com, CNN.com, hbo.com or rollingstone.com. The Top 5 artists as selected by the public will comprise a fans ballot that will be tallied along with other ballots to choose the 2013 inductees.

Inductees will be announced later this year. Keep watching Goldmine online and in print for more about the nominees and inductees.
