More than 20,000 fans from around the world are expected to descend upon Sin City for the 16th annual Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend March 28-31, 2013.
The four-day festival offers a variety of activities, as well as 65 acts performing rockabilly, doo-wop and original 1950s music in several music venues within The Orleans Hotel and Casino, 4500 West Tropicana Ave.
This year’s featured performers include Little Richard, Dick Dale, The Rockcats, The Cleftones and a Janis Martin Tribute with Marti Brom & Rosie Flores. More than 20 deejays will perform between 1 p.m. and 7 a.m each day.
• The Viva Las Vegas Car Show, March 30. More than 800 period-correct, pre-1963 vintage vehicles will be on display. Tickets for the car show only can be purchased for $30 in advance and at the parking lot entrance the day of the event; visit http://www.vivalasvegas.net/tickets for details.
• More than 120 vendors offering rockabilly-related items ranging from vintage and reproduction clothing to records, car accessories, bags, hair pomade, shoes, hats, posters, stickers and event merchandise. Vendor hours are 1 p.m.-2 a.m. daily.
Other featured events and activities include a burlesque competition, a vintage fashion show, dance lessons and competition, daily Tiki Pool Parties, burlesque bingo and a bowling event. New to this year’s event: the Sailor Jerry Tattoo Lounge, hosted by Stedfast Tattoo Parlor.
