Documentary featuring Martha Reeves available free on Hulu

Hulu is offering exclusive viewing of the documentary film “Re:Generation Music Project,” which features artists including The Crystal Method, Martha Reeves, Trombone Shorty, members of The Doors and The Funk Brothers.

The film, which was directed by Amir Bar Lev, is featured at Hulu’s “Documentary of The Month” for April. was an official selection of the 2012 SXSW Film Festival.

Regeneration movie

The film follows pairings of five electronic DJs/producers with other musicians to collaborate on a new song. Skrillex is shown in a Los Angeles studio working with members of The Doors on a new song, “Breakin’ A Sweat.” The Crystal Method is shown in Detroit, working with the Funk Brothers and Martha Reeves of The Vandellas on the R&B number “I’m Not Leaving.” Mark Ronson teamed up with Erykah Badu, Trombone Shorty, Mos Def, Zigaboo Modeliste and members of The Dap Kings to produce a New Orleans jazz-flavored song “A La Modeliste.” DJ Premier worked with NAS and the Berklee Symphony Orchestra for “Regeneration,” and Pretty Lights teamed with LeAnn Rimes and Ralph Stanley for “Wayfaring Stranger.”
