Eddie Van Halen enters rehab; Rock Hall show nixed

LOS ANGELES (AP) ? Eddie Van Halen has said he will enter rehab for unspecified reasons and his group Van Halen will not perform at tonight’s Rock And Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. The group was recently voted into the Rock Hall and was to perform tonight in a ceremony also honoring the induction of Patti Smith, The Ronnets, R.E.M. and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five.

In a statement addressed to fans on Van Halen’s Web site, the
guitarist said he decided to seek treatment because ?at the moment I do
not feel that I can give you my best.?

?That’s why I have decided to enter a rehabilitation facility to work
on myself, so that in the future I can deliver the 110 percent that I
feel I owe you and want to give you,? the statement said.

Meanwhile, the announcement has prompted former Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth to also pull out of tonight’s festivities. Published reports say that Lee Roth is upset the Rock Hall will not allow him to sing. Rock Hall officials, however, have apparently offered to let Lee Roth sign with Velvet Revolver during their performance, but Lee Roth has declined.
