The band’s last U.S. TV performance was in 1992 on “The Dennis Miller Show.”
PIL will begin its North American headlining tour in mid-April. Immediately before the tour launch, the band will perform April 16 at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif.
After fronting the Sex Pistols, John Lydon formed Public Image Ltd. in 1978. With their experimental sound fusing rock, dance, folk, ballet, pop and dub, Public Image Ltd. is regarded as producing some of the most diverse music of the 1970s and 1980s. 2010 marks the 30th anniversary of the band’s first U.S. tour and its U.S. TV debut on “American Bandstand,” where Lydon invited the audience onstage to dance with the band.
In addition to frontman John Lydon, PIL features Lu Edmonds, Bruce Smith and Scott Firth.
John Lydon: “I sound like a bag of kittens thrown down the staircase.”
