Slayer: World Painted Blood

By Peter Lindblad

Of course, World Painted Blood is going to be brutally heavy and full of gore. Of course, it’s going to be impossibly fast, frighteningly aggressive and vicious in its condemnation of governmental and religious institutions.

It is Slayer after all, ruler of the thrash-metal underworld, and they tear into the title track, “Snuff” and “Unit 737” with as much violence and spine-bending tempo shifts as they did on 1986’s classic Reign In Blood.  “Hate Worldwide” and ‘Public Display Of Dismemberment,”  spin into dizzying cyclones of malicious, gigantic riffs. There is no rest for the wicked or Slayer.
