Klaxons discuss their new album on XFM London

By John Curley

Klaxons recently stopped by the Leicester Square studios of XFM London to discuss their new album Surfing The Void with XFM DJ John Kennedy on Kennedy’s Xposure program. The track-by-track breakdown of the album can be heard by going to http://www.xfm.co.uk/artists/interviews/klaxons-on-surfing-the-void and then clicking the individual audio links. Due to rights restrictions, the music from the album is not included.

Klaxons won the Mercury Prize for their 2007 debut album Myths Of The Near Future. The follow-up has been plagued by problems, with a great deal of work being scrapped before the band came up with the new album as it is now constituted. I haven’t heard the full album yet—it has not been released in America as of this writing—but the first single, “Echoes,” is excellent. To watch the video for “Echoes,” click below:

Klaxons’ North American tour begins on September 19th at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, New Jersey and wraps up with an October 9th date at the Troubadour in West Hollywood, California. In addition to the Hoboken show, Klaxons will be playing two other shows in the New York City metro area—September 20th at the Bowery Ballroom in Manhattan and September 22nd at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn. Full tour dates can be found on Klaxons’ MySpace page.
