Beady Eye, the new band fronted by former Oasis lead vocalist Liam Gallagher, have offered their first release, a piano-driven rock-and-roll number titled “Bring The Light,” as a free download from the band’s Web site.

In addition to Gallagher, Beady Eye includes former Oasis members Gem Archer and Andy Bell on guitars and Chris Sharrock on drums.

Reactions to “Bring The Light” have been mixed. The song has received a massive amount of airplay on UK music radio since its release this past Wednesday, November 10th. Quite a few people have compared it to Jerry Lee Lewis’ “Great Balls Of Fire.” Hmmm. I don’t know about that. I’m a bit lukewarm on the song. I’ll have to hear more from Beady Eye before I can render a judgment on whether or not they’ll be successful. If Beady Eye had not emerged from the ashes of the meagasuccessful Oasis, I doubt that “Bring The Light” would’ve gotten much airplay at all.
