Paul Weller promotes new album on XFM London and Absolute Radio

by John Curley—Paul Weller has been promoting the heck out of his new album, Wake Up The Nation, making numerous appearances in the UK music media. This past week, Weller took to the airwaves of XFM London and Absolute Radio to be interviewed about the album and to perform some tracks from it.

Weller did a quite comprehensive track-by-track analysis of the album with XFM London’s John Kennedy. You can hear this by going to and then clicking the individual audio links. Only the interview segments can be heard. The music from the album is not included due to rights restrictions.

On the same day that Weller did the interview with John Kennedy, he also did a video Q&A session with some listeners of XFM London. Kennedy served as the moderator for the Q&A. Weller also met recently with XFM London DJ Dave Berry for another interview, which you can hear by going to and then clicking the individual audio links.

Two weeks ago, Weller appeared on XFM Manchester’s breakfast show and was interviewed by Pete Mitchell. You can hear that interview by going to and clicking the “Listen again here” link.

 Weller did an acoustic live session last week on Absolute Radio’s Christian O’Connell Breakfast Show. The session runs for about 15 minutes, and Weller and his band performed four songs—“All On A Misty Morning,” “Andromeda,” a cover of Marvin Gaye’s “How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You,” and Weller’s new single, “No Tears To Cry.” A video of the live session can be viewed at The video will be up on the Absolute Radio site until May 22nd.

Weller’s Wake Up The Nation album was released last Monday, April 19th, in the UK. It is coming out on June 1st in the United States. Reviews of the album in the UK music press have been overwhelmingly positive.
