Since the early 1970s, it’s only been available as a grainy bootleg.

But this fall, Love’s “Black Beauty” will finally get a proper release — and at 2 p.m. today (Sept. 13), band member Joe Blocker and Arthur Lee biographer John Einarson will discuss the album on WNYC-FM’s “Soundcheck.”

Following his 1972 solo debut, Lee — who founded Love in Los Angeles during the mid-1960s — put together the first and only all-black lineup of the band in 1973 to record “Black Beauty.” But when Lee’s then-label Buffalo Records folded, “Black Beauty” was shelved.

On Oct. 18, New York City-based High Moon Records will release the remastered album with deluxe packaging.
