Carlos D. quits Interpol just after completion of new album

by Gary Fletcher

The indie rock scene found out today that founding member and bassist of Interpol, Carlos Denger has split from the rest of the crew.  The band had just finished recording the new Interpol album, expected to drop this summer and hitting the road for the first tour since 2008.

A note on the bands website read, “after the completion of the album, Carlos informed the rest of us that he would be leaving the band. He has decided to follow another path, and to pursue new goals. This separation is amicable, and we whole-heartedly wish him great happiness and success. We will remain, as always, deeply respectful fans of this blazingly talented individual.”

The band stated, “We can tell you that we have some very exciting new recruits joining us on the road. So stay tuned – we will promptly be revealing the identities of these illustrious players.”

Will Interpol be the same without Carlos? Who will take his place? I guess will have to wait and see. Until then, enjoy the new track “Lights” from the forthcoming album.
