Following the success of last fall’s sold-out tour, Michael Nesmith, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork are hitting the road for “A Midsummer’s Night With The Monkees.”
The tour kicks off in Port Chester, N.Y. on July 15, 2013, and wraps in Portland, Ore., on Aug. 18, 2013. Presale and VIP ticket packages for all shows will go on sale exclusively at www.monkees.com starting May 1. VIP ticket packages will also include a copy of the upcoming deluxe edition of “The Monkees Present,” the next in the acclaimed series of Monkees reissues from Rhino Handmade. General sales for all dates begin May 3.
This is the second outing for the trio following the Feb. 29, 2012, death of original member Davy Jones.
Concertgoers will enjoy a setlist containing a selection of the band’s classic hits, deep cuts from The Monkees’ first five platinum albums (including some performed for the first time since the 1960s) and fan favorites from the soundtrack to the cult classic film “Head” and Emmy®-award winning TV series.
The show is a multimedia presentation that includes rare films and one-of-a-kind photographs culled from the archives, along with the music. Backed by the same stellar crew of musicians from their 2012 run, Nesmith, Dolenz and Tork will also perform an unaccompanied set as a trio featuring tracks from the 1967 homespun No. 1 LP, “Headquarters.”
In many cases, this tour will mark the first concerts from The Monkees to some areas of the United States in decades.
Antenna TV, which airs “The Monkees” series, is teaming up with The Monkees and Rhino Records to run a national contest that will send lucky winners to see the band on tour.
