Chaka Khan has been added to the lineup for the three-day 2011 Essence Music Festival, which begins July 1 in New Orleans.

Other notable names scheduled to perform this year include George Clinton, Mavis Staples, New Edition, Kanye West, Macy Gray and Jill Scott.
