Festival News: Dfest announces 2008 lineup

All American Rejects, The Roots, Ty England, Moe, Phantom Planet and The Apples in Stereo are among the headliner bands slated to perform at Dfest July 25-26, 2008, in Tulsa, Okla.

“Dfest continues to set itself apart as one of the most diverse music festivals in the country, and these headliners certainly further that mission,” Co-Dfest creator Tom Green said. “This going to be another great year packed with phenomenal acts. You don’t want to miss Dfest this year.”

Organizers expect more than 60,000 people to attend the conference and festival. Similar to Austin’s South by Southwest, Dfest showcases emerging artists. In addition to the nearly 30 headlining bands, 120 unsigned acts will perform in conjunction with the two-day conference. The artists will represent more than 20 musical genres on a dozen stages.

This year’s unsigned artists include: 40engine, Adam’s Attic, Admiral Twin, Animate Objects, Annie Minogue, Astellaway, Before Dawn, Blake-O, Callupsie, Cat-a-tac, Cavedoll, Cheyenne, Colourmusic, Congress of a Crow, Crocodile, El Paso Hot Button, Gentlemen Auction House, Ghosts, Glister, Greg Summerlin, Hush Hush Commotion, Jesse Aycock, Leopold and his Fiction, Love In October, Mama Sweet, Matt Stansberry Band, Maxtone Four,  Motive For Movement,  PDA, People Noise, Ravi, Red Dirt Rangers, Ruthie Bram, Ryan Lindsey, Sam and The Stylees, Scott Goldman, Sir Threadius Mongus, Sleeperstar, Slorder, Soulfege, Sparky Quano, Stars Go Dim, Stop, Revolt!, Taddy Porter, The Abdomen, The Boxing Lesson, The Compulsions, The Effects, The Feed, The Forms, The Randies, The Starkweather Boys, The Uglysuit and Unwed Sailor.
Dfest will also include a trade show and conference at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, which will be comprised of music industry panels and music clinics that educate working musicians and music enthusiasts at every level. Invisible Records owner Martin Atkins, Columbia College professor and author of “Tour: Smart,” will be the conference’s keynote speaker.

Music festival times are 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Music conference times are 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
