John Fogerty and his wife, Julie, will be in New Orleans on April 23 to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary.

Their day will include a ride along the Mississippi River in a boat temporarily renamed Proud Mary in honor of the 1969 Fogerty-penned Creedence Clearwater Revival hit. Fogerty will perform “Proud Mary” on the riverboat as part of the private occasion.

“I’ve loved the music from New Orleans all my life, even before I knew where that music came from,” Fogerty said in a news release issued April 18. “So when Julie and I talked about doing something special for our anniversary, even though we were married in Indiana, we could not think of a better way to celebrate than going down to the bayou with our children and friends. The New Orleans area has gone through some tough times the last few years, but the spirit there is amazing and we have always felt incredibly happy there.”

Fogerty will begin a world tour in May, and his itinerary includes the Sonoma Jazz + festival in Sonoma, Calif., on May 20 and the Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival in San Francisco on Aug. 14.
