Meat Loaf to hawk new album on QVC

by Pat Prince

Super-sized rocker, Meat Loaf, will offer QVC viewers the opportunity to purchase his forthcoming album, “Hang Cool Teddy Bear,” one week before its street date. The album will be specially packaged for QVC with a bonus disc of classic live material. “Hang Cool Teddy Bear” is due out May 11.

Meat Loaf will perform the song “Los Angeloser” from “Hang Cool Teddy Bear” on QVC. He will also perform “Paradise by the Dashboard Light.”

It will all air on QVC May 4 at 12 PM (ET) during the multimedia retailer’s QCheck broadcast.

“Hang Cool Teddy Bear is the most important record of my life,” Meat Loaf says, in a recent press release.

Why? Because you can sell it to shopping addicted housewives on QVC?

“This will be the first live performance of any song from this album in the world,” he goes onto say. “I’m excited to be able to share this extraordinary moment with QVC and reach direct into the homes of all my fans.”

Whatever. But “Hang Cool Teddy Bear’ does have some nice guest musicians on it, including Steve Vai, former Queen guitarist Brian May, American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, actor/comedian/musician Jack Black and House star Hugh Laurie.

“Hang Cool Teddy Bear” will be released by Roadrunner/Loud & Proud Records.
