Moody Blues announce American tour in 2011

Los Angeles, CA –The Moody Blues will launch their 2011 U.S. tour nationwide kicking off on April 27, 2011 at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre in New Orleans and will continue through June 11. The band, whose legacy spans four decades of hit-making and sell-out tours, will continue to entertain audiences with their timeless music. Says the New York Post of their live show: ”The rockers played a set that reminded the sold-out Music Hall why (The Moody Blues are) one of the most important rock acts to ever come out of the U.K…the trio looked remarkably sound and sounded untouched by time…” Echoes USA Weekend: “Fans were on their feet applauding great music from a great rock n’ roll band with staying power beyond anybody’s ‘wildest dreams.’” Says the St. Louis Post Dispatch: “The Moodies depend on nostalgic memories of their fans’ youth, but they also know that in the present, these songs can still move the listener.”

The Moodies’ legendary hit “Nights In White Satin” originally released in 1967 from their landmark “Days Of Future Passed” album, just landed at #2 on the UK Rock Chart, and at #27 on the BBC Radio 1 chart, making it the fourth time that “Nights” has charted in its 40-plus year history. The song’s resurgence ignited from a recent smash cover performance by Matt Cardle, current winner of Simon Cowell’s hit UK show “The X Factor” (check out Cardle’s performance of the song at ).

The Moody Blues have sold in excess of 70 million albums worldwide and have been awarded an astonishing 14 platinum and gold discs. Their incredible roster of hits includes: “Nights In White Satin,” “Tuesday Afternoon,” “Ride My See Saw,” “The Story In Your Eyes,” “Isn’t Life Strange,” “Question,” “I’m Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band),” “Your Wildest Dreams,” and “I Know You’re Out There Somewhere,” to name a few. The Moody Blues’ No. 1, Top 5, Top 10, Top 20, Top 40, Multi-Platinum, Platinum and Gold albums and singles, have generated sold-out tours on a consistent basis over the course of several decades, making them one of the top-grossing album and touring bands in existence.

Guitarist/vocalist Justin Hayward, bassist/vocalist John Lodge and drummer Graeme Edge, on this tour, will also offer their fans a special opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with them on their exclusive “Storytellers Experiences” and “Backstage Tours” exclusives, which will be available on select tour dates.

The ultimate Moody Blues VIP experiences now available to fans, will give them the rare opportunity to join the rock legends pre-show, telling some of their wildest personal stories and recounting decades of international performances to an intimate group of fans. 1. I mean The Moody Blues, started in May 1964, in Birmingham, England, And they were all from differant bands, Ray Thomas with John Lodge, Graham Edge and Denny Laine. The came out the British Invasion, where Rhythm and Blues(R&B-not todays modern R&B) &where they everyone wanted to be as big as the Beatles from the Mersey Beat, as they’re from Liverpool and The Rolling Stones were less clean cut and more bad boys of Rock. And Eric Burdon of the Animals helping get Justin Hayward on board by giving contacts of other candidates and pulling out of a sack Justin’s name and so history was born as . \n’ roll group and they’re were may of that were The ?! .(just pick a letter A-Z, just about). As Clint Warwick leaving with Denny Laine who went on to Paul McCartney and wings and Mike Pinder Mellotron sound being part of their sound and inspiring the Beatles like on Sgt Peppers..amongst others they inspired like all good things in life do anyway..
Maybe they might not be as commmercial or mainstream or accessable or viable arguably..but compared to some like Elvis, Chuck Berry of America and their British counterparts..But they continue to do good music, i mean they’ve had their hits and like my fiance said They’re old, a retro act and continue to do nostagic acts which they are consider to do so..but hey everyones a critic..What more do you want they were very popular in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and because now of tours, the internet and dvds, now blu-rays, they continue to mainly tour Uk and Us, yeah sure and the odd World Tour, maybe not as on a bigger scale as they were once upon a time or play as loud as they used to, but hey they continue to do good music and give fans what they want if they want more merchandise like on moody blues today..They toured last in Australia on east coast and saw them in 2005 in Melbourne at the Palais and sure the passage of time since saw them in February 1984 and 1987 at the former Sports and Entertainment Centre(remade to Collingwood Football Clubs Centre who are last years and my fiance Kristens team but like Metallica her favourite band don’t get played quite so much either..Heavy metal is really heavy rock n roll of course..Anyway the Moody Blues continue on as former members lke Mike Pinder who never got replaced properly it got turned out as Patrick Moraz in late 50s was a contract member with others who tour with them and come and go..
May they continue on for as long as possible, i mean they’re one of the bands who’s Nasa astronaut have travelled the world with a Audio cassette and done been part of a Imax film 10 years ago Journeys into Amazing Caves, not many bands can say that..And even if they aren’t in the Rock N Roll Hall of’s never too 50 years in 2014 or by 2017..Rolling Stones editor and the board that votes these things can’t agree just yet but hopefully sooner than later..But they’re music will live on forever..with their own music and even if they’re not everyones tastes well everyones different and just about everyone heard of them anyway..May the continue to Rock On and Hopefully they’ll come back on a World Tour and have a proper original New Album one day too, The Moody Blues even supported my other great love that’s also British Doctor Who which also came back and nothing really just goes away completely..

  2. I went to see the Moody Blues last night in New Orleans. They were fantastic as usual. What a treat to see this most important and historical band. I had my 15 year old son with me and told him that seeing these guys is something that he will remember for life. This band ranks up there with the Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Who, etc… In New Orleans, they played many of their greatest songs such as “Tuesday Afternoon”, “Nights In White Satin”, “The Question”, “Higher and Higher”, “Story In Your Eyes”, “Ride My See Saw” and newer songs like “The Other Side of Life”. They took a 20 minute break and came back out and rocked some more. A special message to Mr. Graeme Edge (Moody Blues drummer): Thanks for talking with us fans after the show by the tour bus. That was nice of you.
