News & Notes: Reunions rule for Warrant, NKOTB

REUNIONS

The original lineup of WarrantJani Lane (vocals), Joey Allen (lead guitar), Jerry Dixon (bass), Erik Turner (guitar) and Steven Sweet — is getting back together reuniting for the first time in 14 years. Best known for its hit “Cherry Pie,” Warrant is set to co-headline the 2008 Rocklahoma Festival July 10-13, 2008, in Pryor, Okla., with fellow 1980s hair-metal veterans Cinderella. The bands plan to hit the road together in July 2008, and Warrant also is planning to release a live performance DVD later this year… ’80s boy band New Kids on the Block has reunited with plans to release a new album and go on tour…

“Blues And The Spirit,” a symposium on the legacy of blues and gospel music, will be held May 22-24, 2008, at Domincan University in River Forest, Ill. TRIBUTE CONCERTS

A tribute concert honoring Arthur Lee and the 40th anniversary of the Love album Forever Changes will be held June 7, 2008, at the Malibu, Calif., Performing Arts Center. The album was inducted into the 2008 Grammy Hall of Fame. Featured performers at the events will include former Cream vocalist and bass player Jack Bruce, Deep Purple’s Ian Gillan, Randy Bachman, Alannah Myles, Jeff Healey’s Blues Band and Jeff Healey’s Jazz Wizards. HONORS

Country performer Charlie Daniels will be honored by Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tenn., May 3, 2008, for his service to others, including performing for troops in the Middle East… Bay City, Mich., which more than two decades ago declined to honor native daughter Madonna with a key to the city, wants the singer to give it a second chance and has sent her an invitation to accept a key to the city… In awarding an honorary Pulitzer prize to Bob Dylan, judges cited his “profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power”…

Radiohead, Kanye West and Wilco are among the 90 bands and artists who will perform at Lollapalooza, which opens Aug. 1, 2008, in Chicago. Other acts scheduled to perform include Rage Against the Machine, Nine Inch Nails, Gnarls Barkley, Bloc Party, Lupe Fiasco, The Raconteurs, The Black Keys, Broken Social Scene, Cat Power and Mark Ronson… With its ticket prices averaging $88.69 apiece, Bon Jovi has taken over the top earnings spot on the concert tour circuit.
