Celebrate Brooklyn! just announced that Norah Jones will open the 2010 season. The opening night Gala takes place on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at the Prospect Park Bandshell. Individual tickets start at $325 and get you access to all of the festivities for the evening which includes cocktails and dinner, Norah Jones in concert and an after-party. The event is to honor and present Pamela Brier, CEO & President of Maimonides Medical Center and Norah Jones, 5 Time Grammy Award Winner, both of Brooklyn, the Celebrate Brooklyn Award. All proceeds from the event go to keep the festival free and accessible for everyone like it has done for so many years.
Celebrate Brooklyn! was started in 1975 as a means to get people back into Prospect Park after years and years of neglect. It is the longest running FREE music festival in New York City and has hosted over 1,700 artists since its inception and attracts over 250,000 people each season.
To purchase tickets for the opening night Gala, visit the Celebrate Brooklyn! website here.
If you can’t shell out the money, not to worry…you can still see the FREE Norah Jones performance at 8:00 pm. Make sure you get there early and gates open to the public at 6:00 pm.
The entire 2010 summer schedule will be announced on May 4, 2010 but keep checking the Celebrate Brooklyn! Twitter page as they are announcing shows randomly. So far, here are the dates they have given:
