Who singer Roger Daltrey will perform the band’s “Tommy” album from start to finish with his solo band as part of a North American tour that begins Sept. 13 in Hollywood, Fla. Other stops include Philadelphia (Sept. 21), Los Angeles (Oct. 19), Las Vegas (Oct. 22) and Seattle (Oct. 25).

General-public tickets for the U.S. shows go on sale at 10 a.m. ET on May 20; a special American Express card member presale begins at 10 a.m. May 16 through www.aeglive.com.

In a press release issued May 12, Daltrey said, “ ‘Tommy,’ an album that tells a story about a ‘deaf, dumb and blind boy’ who becomes the leader of a messianic movement, will always be seen as a turning point for the band. Within it, I found the new voice of The Who and the band found its stride in making that music, adjusting it, using all that knowledge that we had from jazz and the blues into making it work in a rock way.”

Daltrey’s backing band will include guitarist Simon Townshend, the younger brother of The Who’s Pete Townshend.
