Stars aplenty featured in Kenny Rogers TV special

Kenny Rogers

Kenny Rogers: The First 50 Years,” a star-studded, 90-minute TV special that was taped at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods, will make its debut at 8:30 p.m. ET March 8 on the Great American Country (GAC) network.

Featured artists include Smokey Robinson, Chris Isaak, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie and Alison Krauss.

“One of the things I loved the most about doing this special was hearing some of the old songs I had recorded performed in new ways by my talented friends,” Rogers said in a statement released March 3. “What I think most people don’t understand is every artist on this show has a pretty heavy performance schedule, so to set aside a couple of days for a friend is not as easy as it may sound. I was thrilled to see each and every one of them and to have the chance to ‘catch up’ on our friendships.”

The special also includes archive clips and interviews.
