Ken Sharp talks about Utopia reunion on the Goldmine Magazine Podcast, Episode 28.

Ken Sharp is the author of this June’s cover story on Utopia  — the magazine issue, above right, is available at Barnes & Noble and Books A Million newsstands until June 4. Sharp was so thrilled upon hearing the news of Utopia’s reunion, he headed straight for the recording studio and recorded a tribute song to the band (above left).

Says Sharp: “Well, 33 years is a long time; that’s the last time I saw one of my favorite bands, Utopia, in concert. Now a dream of mine has become reality and Todd Rundgren’s Utopia are back with a U.S. tour (which started in late April). I was so elated and thrilled at the news that this long suffering fan was inspired to write an anthemic flavored prog-pop song called “Utopia,” my stylistic tip of the hat to the group and the fans/band collective ethos. I quickly roped in two extraordinary musicians and fellow Todd/Utopia freaks, Fernando Perdomo and Rob Bonfiglio, and we cut this new song of mine at Reseda Ranch Studios in tribute to our Utopian heroes, Todd Rundgren, Kasim Sulton, Willie Wilcox and Roger Powell.”
