An Explorer guitar signed by rock legends Roger Daltrey, Jack Bruce, Joe Walsh and Slash pulled in nearly $3,500 at Backstage Auctions’ recent All Access Rock Auction event.
Jack Bruce finally broke free from Cream following their Farewell tour in September 1968. The mutli-purpose player had tried to bring in different elements — classical, jazz and more adventurous harmonic excursions — but Ginger Baker and Eric Clapton wanted nothing to do with it.
After Cream released "Sunshine of Your Love," everyone from Blood, Sweat and Tears to Jimi Hendrix took a crack at covering it. On the surface, it was a simple blues song. But no one ever managed to capture the magic of the original riff written by Cream bassist Jack Bruce.
