If there is a music collectibles category that is increasingly demanding high prices, it is the ’80s, especially hard rock.
In addition to featuring well-drawn characters, interesting storylines, razor-sharp dialogue, and, for better or worse, the fashions of the early 1980s, Ashes to Ashes also has a fantastic soundtrack that is chock full of the music of the time.
“The curtains opened and there was this sea of screaming girls. It completely threw me off my balance,” a still shell-shocked John Taylor recalls. The Duran Duran bassist fumbles for words, “I had no idea … I mean, I felt … I don’t know, it was like somebody pulling the rug out from under you.”
