Tony Franklin rose to prominence in the ’80s as the bassist with The Firm, the supergroup that grew out of the ashes of the mighty Led Zeppelin, with Jimmy Page leading on guitar. The 10 albums that influenced Franklin’s life built the backbone of his nickname, “The Fretless Monster.”
“The solo is arranged so it’s really in-your-face guitar,” says Chaquico. “We argued over every second of it at one point.”
The 2011 Experience Hendrix concert tour, presented by Fender guitars, launches a limited run of dates starting May 20th with an all-star lineup of musical greats paying homage to the abiding genius of Jimi Hendrix.
Co-hosted by current GRAMMY nominees Bobby McFerrin and Esperanza Spalding, the ceremony will feature performances by nominees such as ChocQuibTown, Buddy Guy, Cyndi Lauper and Trombone Shorty
