Genre: Bubblegum/’60s teen pop

The 15-year-old vocalist Juniper Shelley sings about teenage concerns — the kids on her corner, schoolgirl crushes, roller coasters and the like — on her wonderful debut album.

A veritable who’s who in indie pop is on hand to play and sing as well: members of Fountains of Wayne, Yo La Tengo, The Smithereens and Los Straitjackets are among those who assist Ms. Shelley in realizing a catchy, smile-inducing retro pop vision.

Tunes co-written by The Rubinoos’ Tommy Dunbar (the bubblegummy “Best Kept Secret”) and the late Kim Shattuck of The Muffs (the endearing, Latin-flavored “Poke Your Eye Out”) are two of the highlights, along with the crunchy, T. Rex-flavored “Everybody’s Got a Crush on Chad,” written by Juniper’s pop, Michael Shelley, who also produced.
