Green will headline Indy Jazz Fest

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) ? The lineup for the ninth annual Indy Jazz Fest will feature R&B legend Al Green and devote an evening to women in jazz. Vocalists Neenna Freelon and Rachael Price will join Sherrie Maricle and the DIVA Jazz Orchestra on the opening night of the festival, which will be held June 15-17 in Military Park in downtown Indianapolis.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) ? The lineup for the ninth annual Indy Jazz Fest will feature R&B legend Al Green and devote an evening to women in jazz.

Vocalists Neenna Freelon and Rachael Price will join Sherrie Maricle and the DIVA Jazz Orchestra on the opening night of the festival, which will be held June 15-17 in Military Park in downtown Indianapolis.

Friday's ?Woman in Jazz? lineup also includes violin player Regina Carter, and pianists Hiromi and Monika Herzig.

A performance by pianist Chick Corea and banjo player Bela Fleck will wrap-up the three-day event.

Indy Jazz Fest is organized by the American Pianists Association, which announced the bill for the festival's two stages on Thursday.

Organizers expect to sell 15,000 to 20,000 tickets to the festival.

Past Indy Jazz Fest performers include Tony Bennett, Sonny Rollins, B.B. King, Herbie Hancock, Norah Jones and Dave Brubeck.

Al Green last performed at the Indy Jazz Fest in 2000.
