ZZ Top-Rio Grande Mud
ZZ Top-Tres Hombres
ZZ Top-Fandango
ZZ Top-Tejas
ZZ Top-Deguello
ZZ Top-Eliminator
and ditch #s 18-20 and #s 7, 9 and 17

By the way, I'm not from the South unless South Jersey qualifies!

Pete Braidis

From John Scarpelli in Dayton, Ohio:

If live albums are included, this one is a no brainer: The Allman Brothers at Fillmore East.

Not only is this the best Southern Rock album of all time, but perhaps the greatest live album of all time in any genre!!

Otherwise, my nominations, from first to last, would be:
Brothers and Sisters - Allman Brothers
Fire On The Mountain - Charlie Daniels Band
Pronounced (debut) - Lynyrd Skynyrd

From Bruce Coen, via e-mail:

Allman Brothers rule as the all-time first and greatest Southern rock band, and Live at Fillmore is the only recording one should hear to prove this point (Eat A Peach will do as well).

Other mentions:
Wet Wille
Atlanta Rhythm Section
CDB (Charlie Daniels Band in case you forgot)
Lynyrd Skynyrd
Marshall Tucker Band (Can't You See rocks as one of the best Southern
rock anthems ever)
Dixie Dregs (Steve Morse lays down some tasty southern rock type licks)
Little Feat (Southern rock and funk, what a winning combo)
Ozark Mountain Daredevils
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (raised on Florida southern rock
provided by the Allmans)
