Les Savy Fav will drop their fifth studio album, Root for Ruin on September 14th via Frenchkiss Records. The album which has been in the works for a couple of years is the follow-up to Let’s Stay Friends from 2007. The bands guitarist, Syd Butler, says the new album "somehow captures all the best parts of Les Savy Fav" and goes on to say, “We went into it with no expectations – and super excited with what came out – all the songs are my favorites.”

I first heard the band back in 1997, when I picked up a promo disk of their debut record 3/5 from the bins at Academy Records in NYC. I really liked what I heard back then and over the years the band has certainly matured while keeping true to themselves. My favorite album by them so far is The Cat and the Cobra, wonder if this new album will be able to top it. They put on a really good show so if you haven't seen live be sure to check them out.
