REO rolls with the changes

Even though REO Speedwagon has recently played at local Wal-Marts, the band's musical legacy of REO is outstanding.

It just makes me uncomfortable. Did you ever have a friend do something and you're embarrassed for them? Kind of like 'I wish they didn't do that' sort of thing?

What about a band who sold more than 15 million records in the span of their 40 year musical history end up playing local wineries, state fairs, and an appearance on the Third Annual Rick Springfield Caribbean Cruise? Oh yeah, in 2007 they also played a Wal-Mart in Minnesota.

That being said, the musical legacy of REO is outstanding.

REO Speedwagon released "Hi Infidelity" in 1980 which stayed on the charts for an amazing 65 weeks, half of which were in the top ten, 15 weeks on top of the Billboard Top 200. Four of their career-topping singles came off this album alone with "Keep On Loving You" at #1, followed by "Take It On The Run," "In Your Letter," and "Don't Let Him Go."

And to the delight of their fans their 2007 release "Find Your Own Way Home" displayed their harder rock sound and, although it did not chart, did produce the single "I Needed to Fall", which spiked at #25 on the Adult Contemporary chart.

In between, of course, the band had huge hit albums like 1982's "Good Trouble" followed up by 1984's "Wheels Are Turnin'." Singles like "Keep the Fire Burnin'" which hit the US charts at #7, and of course "Can't Fight This Feeling" which hit the #1 spot.

Along with bands like Journey, REO Speedwagon sort of set the bar high at selling out Arenas with their power sound. Legendary live shows, outstanding record sales. Distinctively legendary sound.

Let's just keep your records for sale in Wal-Mart stores from now on, not the live shows.
