(Flip side of “Typical Male,” 1986)

Tina Turner achieved a tremendous comeback in 1984, at the age of 45, with three 45s in the Top 40, including “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” which spent three weeks at No. 1 at the end of that summer, her second gold single, with her first being Ike & Tina Turner’s 1971 hit cover “Proud Mary.” 1985 began with the title song from Turner’s multi-million selling album Private Dancer reaching the Top 10, as did “We Don’t Need Another Hero,” from the film Thunderdome that summer.

The following year she hit the Top 10 with “Typical Male,” which included the song “Don’t Turn Around” on its flip side, which later reached the Top 10 in 1994 by the Swedish group Ace of Base, a year after Turner’s final Top 40 hit “I Don’t Wanna Fight.” “Don’t Turn Around” is featured in Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, which returned to Broadway. Its orchestrator Ethan Popp said, “We’re coming back and we’re ready!”
