It appears that ex-Pantera bassist Rex Brown is doing some serious spring cleaning this year. He has a wealth of personally-owned Pantera items going up for auction through rock 'n' roll auctioneer Backstage Auctions from Saturday April 18 thru Sunday April 26.
Actually, Rex Brown has a more sincere reason for getting rid of these priceless heavy metal collectibles than creating more space in his house. He wants to give Pantera fans the opportunity to own a part of heavy metal history — whether it's one of Brown's bass guitars or a Pantera record award.
In his 20-year career with the Grammy-nominated, platinum-selling "groove metal" band Pantera, Brown has accumulated a remarkable collection of gear and equipment alone. For instance, at auction will be Brown's first bass guitar, a 1981 Ibanez, RS-824 Roadster Bass, that he used during Pantera’s early club days and a 1996 Stuart Spector Design LTD NS-5 #170 bass, affectionately known as “Brownie.”
“Never before has there been any Pantera memorabilia offered in a single auction by one of the original members. This is going to be a hugely exciting event and we are honored to host the auction for Rex," claims Backstage Auctions founder Jacques van Gool.
Considering Pantera's history, it is a rare auction event. Everything's covered, down to smaller items such as stage worn shirts, picks, bass strings, posters, guitar straps, promo items and road cases. Even several pairs of Brown's signature "touring" Converse sneakers will be available via auction (below).
One thing is for sure: Die-hard Pantera fans will not want to miss this opportunity.
You can preview the auction now and the bidding will start April 18 and will run through April 26, 2015.
