Fender Musical Instruments has introduced a Wayne Kramer Stratocaster that replicates the stars-and-stripes look of the Strat that Kramer played while he was a member of The MC5.

“I felt like this guitar could be part of [MC5’s] total assault on the culture,” Kramer said in a news release issued April 8. “When I painted the guitar with this motif, it was to claim my patriotism in spite of what the country was doing at the time. I see myself as the curator to MC5’s legacy … And I think this guitar goes in some ways towards maintaining that legacy.”

The guitar, which retails for $1,299.99, features a Seymour Duncan ’59 humbucking middle pickup, an alder body, a maple neck and a large ’70s-style headstock.
