Festival News: The 2008 Capitol Hill Block Party

Vampire Weekend, Kimya Dawson and The Dodos all are scheduled to perform at the 2008 Capitol Hill Block Party, which will be held July 25 and 26, 2008, in Seattle.

The Block Party is an annual music festival that showcases indie and underground rock, with a special focus on Northwest artists. Launched 11 years ago, the Block Party has evolved into one of Seattle’s most anticipated outdoor music festivals. More than 50 bands appear on four stages, and the festival also features food and plenty of cheap beer. Partial proceeds from the event benefit the nonprofit organizatinos Home Alive, which encourages violence prevention, and The Vera Project, a youth-run, all-ages venue and recording studio in Seattle.

Confirmed acts include: Vampire Weekend, Les Savy Fav, The Hold Steady, Girl Talk, Chromeo, Kimya Dawson, The Dodos, U.S.E., Jay Reatard, Darker My Love, Akimbo, The Hands, Pwrfl Power, The builders And The Butchers, Velella Velella, Past Lives, Black Eyes And Neckties, The Physics, Man Plus, Little Party and Bad Business and Champagne Champagne.
