“Dust Bowl,” the new solo album by blues-rock singer/guitarist Joe Bonamassa, is due March 22 on his own J&R Adventures label.

“I’m finding more inspiration in storytelling in my 30s, in writing songs that are about something more profound than ‘my baby left me,’” Bonamassa said in a press release issued Jan. 24. “I like albums that are made with the right intentions and sound organic and a little rough around the edges, like a great band playing live in the room, and that's what we accomplished with ‘Dust Bowl.’”

Recorded in Greece, Tennessee and California, “Dust Bowl” was produced by longtime Bonamassa collaborator Kevin Shirley, best known for his work with Aerosmith and The Black Crowes.

John Hiatt sings with Bonamassa on a version of “Tennessee Plates,” which features Vince Gill on guitar. Gill also plays on “Sweet Rowena.”

Bonamassa is scheduled to begin a North American tour Feb. 17 in Anaheim, Calif. Other stops include Las Vegas (Feb. 19), Dallas (Feb. 26), Cincinnati (March 19) and Pittsburgh (March 27).
