Lisa Dietrich releases colorful video single “Set It Off Tonight”

Lisa Dietrich combines dance, disco, jazz, soul urban, R&B, Latin, jazz and funk styles on her new single “Set It Off Tonight” ahead of next year’s EP

Lisa Dietrich’s vocal talent recalls the purity of 1980s recordings by Sade, Gloria Estefan and Swing Out Sister, surrounded by an exciting musical backdrop of 1970s Chic and A Taste of Honey stylings. Dietrich told Goldmine, “I am thrilled how the recording turned out and am reminded of a mix of Michael Jackson and Earth, Wind & Fire. One guitarist played the guitar he used on many of Michael Jackson’s hits and the bass is played by Earth, Wind & Fire’s bassist. I was surrounded by so much talent!”

Lisa Dietrich is a Los Angeles veteran songwriter, arranger, vocal producer and vocalist who has collaborated with some of the best producers and musicians in the music industry. The versatility of her writing and arranging skills, vocal arrangement and vocal production has gained her great respect in the music industry, including recognition for her delightful cover of Natalie Cole’s flip side “La Costa.”

Regarding "Set It Off Tonight" Dietrich stated, “A few years ago I was at my long-time friends D Prosper and Natasha Diggs’ Friday night iconic spot in New York City called Soul in the Horn, where the DJs’ music focus includes a fabulous array of classic soul and disco. The vibe in the club was euphoric. That night I decided I needed to capture something like this for my project. ‘Set It Off Tonight’ is an uplifting song I feel is so needed in these crazy times! It’s a song to get you going, on the dance floor or lacing up your skates to take it to the streets!”

Lisa Dietrich co-wrote “Set It Off Tonight” with Wayne Linsey. Dietrich revealed, “I woke up one morning and the lyrics and melody came to me all at once, including the signature horn part in the hook. I knew I needed a Quincy Jones level production. Soon after that, I met up with music mastermind Wayne Linsey at his studio and explained my vision. I wanted all live instrumentation including a live string section. I started singing what I had written a cappella, and right away he got on his keyboard and we were on our way! Between the two of us, we brought in the perfect mix of A list musician magic.”

“Set It Off Tonight” is written, produced and arranged by Lisa Dietrich and Wayne Linsey.
