Long live the ‘Wall of Sound’

Four Phil Spector-produced compilations are due in February

This year is the 50th anniversary of the Philles Records label, and to mark the occasion, four Phil Spector-produced compilations will be released Feb. 22 in physical and digital form via Phil Spector Records/Legacy.

* “Da Doo Ron Ron: The Very Best of The Crystals” will include the group’s biggest hits, such as “He’s a Rebel,” plus numerous B-sides and rarities, as well as the previously unreleased “Woman in Love (With You).”

* “Be My Baby: The Very Best of The Ronettes” is an 18-track set of signature songs (“Baby, I Love You,” “Walking in the Rain” and others), along with numerous B-sides and rarities, bonus solo tracks by lead singer Ronnie Spector and the 1969 A&M single “You Came, You Saw, You Conquered.”

* “The Sound of Love: The Very Best of Darlene Love” contains 17 tracks featuring the 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and includes her work as lead singer of The Blossoms, The Crystals and Bob B. Soxx and The Blue Jeans.

* “Wall of Sound: The Very Best of Phil Spector 1961-1966” features songs by The Crystals, The Ronettes and Love, plus bonus tracks from The Righteous Brothers and Ike & Tina Turner.
