Norwegian-born singer/songwriter Sondre Lerche will release his new album June 7 on Mona Records.

Lerche recorded the self-titled album live in the studio and mixed it during a three-week span, using musicians connected with Williamsburg, the neighborhood in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he’s lived off and on for the past six years.

“We recorded a lot of it to tape, forcing ourselves to either commit or burn bridges and move on,” he says. “We were killing darlings left and right. It was truly liberating.”

Lerche has lined up a series of appearances during 2011’s South by Southwest music conference/festival, which begins March 15. At last year’s SXSW, Lerche was among the guests who participated in the Alex Chilton/Big Star tribute show at Antone’s.

On May 31, Lerche will begin a headlining North American tour in Toronto. Other stops include New York (June 4), Atlanta (June 11), Chicago (June 18 and 19) and San Diego (June 30).
