We listened attentively to our readers’ feedback in 2010, both positive and negative. What we heard is that readers want more color. I’m excited to present to readers the new Goldmine look. It has beautiful full-color pages and an upgrade to glossy paper.

Our readers also told us what they want to see covered in Goldmine, which is the inspiration for our first-ever Readers’ Choice issue. Starting with the Readers’ Choice issue (at left), for which all of the subjects were nominated by and voted upon by you, our readers, Goldmine will move from a mostly black-and-white publication printed on newsprint every two weeks to a full-color magazine printed on full-gloss paper once a month, plus two special bonus issues each year (one of which will be an issue dedicated to this year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees).

Goldmine is both an appreciation and celebration of the music and the artists we love. We will continue to give you top-notch content. And now, readers of the new Goldmine will receive more content per issue, as well as an investment in great photos that capture the artists on a quality paper stock that does the artists — and their music — justice. Also, expect more discographies and expanded sections.

We want to give you more collecting information, too. Therefore, we created a new section called Collector’s Corner, filled with everything from inside trends to our own Market Watch (now updated weekly online).

We also will offer more “themed” issues. We received overwhelming feedback from those of you who loved our recent ’50s issue. So in the coming year, we will have themed issues on progressive rock, doo-wop, heavy metal, soul and so on. We will even have themed issues on classic five-star albums and the best live albums of all time. And, of course, we appreciate your continued feedback on this.

The new year is an exciting one for Goldmine and its readers. The magazine that has been giving the best coverage on music collectibles and memorabilia since 1974 is offering exciting improvements in 2011 driven directly by our readers’ requests. We hope you enjoy them.

Happy New Year!
