"This is my American Bandstand sweater from 1960. When American Bandstand was moved from Philadelphia to Los Angeles they had a bigger studio and they made a souvenir store right next to the dance studio. The story I got from a former dancer on the Philly show is that they ordered 50 of these. He thought they had only sold 18 and there was no interest in them. Dick Clark asked his people why these were not selling and a guy that worked for the show said, "Dick, they don't wear that stuff in LA, it's too warm". They contacted the company that made them and asked if they could return all of them. They removed all the American Bandstand logo's and took them back. According to this gentleman Dick Clark told him to hold on to his sweater, it is the rarest piece of memorabilia for American Bandstand. I only know of 2 others, both in American Bandstand collectors' hands." --Mike Voytek
