Iron Maiden were in fine form during the New York metro area part of their Legacy of the Beast Tour 2022 on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, with Dutch symphonic/gothic metal band Within Temptation. Maiden gave the honor to the recently built arena, UBS Arena at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York.

Within Temptation, who have been around since April 1996, had the incredible opportunity to open for Iron Maiden throughout their U.S. tour. As the Maiden faithful poured into the arena, the Dutch metal sextet (singer Sharon den Adel, bassist Jeroen van Veen, keyboardist Martijn Spierenburg, lead guitarist Ruud Jolie, drummer Mike Coolen and rhythm guitarist Stefan Helleblad) took to the challenge and rocked out big time with a short set of their latest songs and standards. Their setlist for the night (with an impressive stage presence) included "The Reckoning," "Paradise (What About Us?)," "In the Middle of the Night," "Stand My Ground," "Supernova," "Don’t Pray for Me," "Raise Your Banner," and finishing up their set with "Mother Earth."

Iron Maiden, who always come up with great themed albums and tours, came out with their 17th album, Senjutsu (which translates to tactics and strategy), on September 3, 2021, after almost six years.

Maiden fans who traveled from around the world packed the arena. Fans down along the barricade in front of the stage were able to bring banners into the arena to show Maiden how far they traveled to see their favorite band.

With the venue still dark, smoke began to rise from the stage, and so did drummer Nicko McBrain, getting on his drum kit to get the UBS Arena crowd on their feet and into a metal frenzy. Soon-after, bassist Steve Harris, lead and rhythm guitarists Adrian Smith, Dave Murray and Janick Gers would appear onstage to start the show.

Singer Bruce Dickinson came out dressed in all black with his hair up in a samurai man-bun hairstyle ready to belt out the band's songs for the night. Samurai mascot Eddie would make an appearance wielding his katana during the opening song and title track of the latest album Senjutsu. Maiden had incredible stage setups throughout the show and an amazing setlist for this memorable night (see setlist below), finishing the night with a fighter plane hovering over the stage during "Aces High."
